Job Purpose
The Piping Engineer will be responsible for piping systems Design and Engineering as per project requirements in compliance with all applicable and relevant legislation, standards, codes and specifications. Furthermore, you will execute the projects according to the work scope, schedule, and budget.
What you’ll do
- Participation in organization and in preparation of piping engineering and design, prepare and review deliverables, calculation reports and specifications.
- To perform inspections and site surveys as requested and developing preliminary project Scope and Estimations.
- To liaise with third-Party Regulation Authorities (ASME A.I, Class etc.) to ensure the comply to the relevant legislation, standards, codes etc.;
- Coordinate activities and resolve issues among clients, contractors, and other parties to allow construction activities to progress according to plan and finalize mechanical completion.
- Resolve project management problems related to your area of expertise, including project planning deficiencies, project quality defects (in engineering, procurement, or construction), schedule slippages, and potential cost over runs.
- Perform and/or Review Piping Stress analysis/ Flexibility Calculations Reports, through hand calculations, excel spreadsheet and or with the aid of design software’s. Select and Design piping supports.
- Prepare and/or review appropriate Bill of Materials/ Material Take off for Procurement, including optimization. Specify insulation, paint, and other protective coatings and procedures;
- Prepare and/or review specification for outsourcing services, like, Design, fabrication, Painting and Coating , insulation etc.;
- Work closely with project engineers and other project professionals to provide work direction and guidance.
- Participate in the development of standards, guidelines, instructions policies and procedures on an as-required basis.
- Participate in the reviews and evaluation of the capabilities of Engineering & Construction contractors, suppliers, and project management related service providers.
- To supervise as requested and advise junior staff;
- Manage and maintain Piping components /Supports databases, verify data accuracy, and create reports and queries. Update and maintain engineering documentation and drawings.
- To execute additional task not listed here above but necessary to the company depending on needs.
Taking ownership of organization’s QHSE policy
- Accountable to create a safe working environment, managing risks and reducing exposure to hazards to levels practically achievable and ensuring implementation of QHSE Policy.
- Complying with all IMS Procedures, QA/QC standards as applicable to deliver works safely maintain highest standards of quality with minimal environmental impacts.
- Wear appropriate safety or protective equipment as identified required through risk assessments or as specified, at all times.
- Contributing to the enhancement of quality, health, safety, and environment within the organization.
In addition to the above, all supervisors and managers have a duty of care to ensure that a safe place of work is maintained and that appropriate welfare facilities are provided. Also, to ensure that all hazardous situations and possible hazardous conditions are identified and avoided. Workers must be briefed on the hazards likely to be presented, with the knowledge that the risks have been calculated, and must be informed of the controls required to mitigate those risks.
What we’re looking for
- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineer or equivalent recognized engineering qualification
- Literate in MS Office suite
- 5 years’ experience as a Piping Design Engineer in Oil& Gas and Power industry Land/ Marine & offshore ;
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams
- Experience in the support of both small- and large-scale capital projects;
- Have a thorough knowledge of best engineering practices, solid industry codes and standards background (ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ISO) and use of engineering software Caesar II, CADworx, AutoCAD or Similar.
Job Specific Skills
- Broad and extensive knowledge of Piping Industry design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria.
- Be able to analyze, determine and specify the piping requirements and considerations applicable to the design and engineering activities as per project tasks.
- Fully understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
- Proficient in producing 2D / 3D drawing using CAD software.
- Must have thorough knowledge of static equipment design, fabrication and inspections for: Piping as per ASME b3.1 & B31.3 (EN 13480 is a Plus).
- Well versed with third-Party Regulation Authorities design appraisal practices
- Good knowledge of welding details.
